Breast reduction surgery is performed to reduce the size of your breasts for a more masculine looking chest.
If your enlarged breasts are making you feel uncomfortable and preventing you from taking your shirt off at the beach or working out in a tight fitting shirt, male breast reduction surgery is a great solution.
Your excess fat, breast tissue and skin can be permanently removed to reveal a flat, smooth, firm looking chest. If you have a significant amount of excess tissue, Dr. Lyons may have to remove your nipple and reposition it on your chest.
At the time of your initial consultation you will sit down with Dr. Lyons to discuss why you are interested in breast reduction surgery and the changes that you would like to see. The details of your surgery will be explained thoroughly.
Dr. Lyons will take the time to listen, and all of your questions will be answered before you leave.
Incisions can be made around your areolar complex — where the light and dark skin meet around your nipple — and on the surface skin of your chest.
Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete. You will be comfortable and asleep during your surgery.
Take at least 1 to 2 weeks off work for recovery.
Every patient’s recovery from male breast reduction surgery is unique. You may heal faster than others, however, it’s a good idea to take a few extra days off work to rest and heal.
Your chest will feel swollen and you will probably notice some bruising. These symptoms are normal and will disappear within a few weeks following surgery. Dr. Lyons will give you very detailed post operative care instructions to follow during your recovery.
Male breast reduction surgery can be combined with other surgical procedures such as a tummy tuck. If you are interested combining your breast reduction with another procedure, please let us know when you call to reserve your consultation.
