Tummy Tuck surgery is designed to remove your excess abdominal skin and fat. This cosmetic procedure can also repair and tighten your abdominal muscle tone that is lost due to pregnancy and weight fluctuation.
At the time of your initial consultation you will sit down with Dr. Lyons to discuss why you are interested in tummy tuck surgery and the changes that you would like to see. The details of your surgery will be explained thoroughly.
Dr. Lyons will take the time to listen, and all of your questions will be answered before you leave.
A strategically placed horizontal incision will be made from hipbone to hipbone that curves down towards your pubic region. A second incision may be required around your belly button. The positioning of your incision lines are determined by your existing anatomy and will be thoroughly discussed with Dr. Lyons before surgery.
Tummy Tuck surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1.5 to 3 hours to complete. You will be comfortable and asleep during your surgery.
Take at least 1 to 2 weeks off work for recovery.
Every patient’s recovery from tummy tuck surgery is unique. You may heal faster than others, however, it’s a good idea to take a few extra days off work to rest and heal.
Dr. Lyons will ask you to walk with a bend at your waist for 1 week to keep pressure off your midsection while you heal.
You can expect to feel swollen and sore after surgery. These symptoms are normal and will disappear within a few weeks following your procedure. Dr. Lyons will give you very detailed post operative care instructions to follow during your recovery.
Tummy tuck surgery can be combined with other surgical procedures such as breast implants or breast reduction surgery. If you are interested combining your tummy tuck with another procedure, please let us know when you call to reserve your consultation.
